Warrior

Shrouded in black,

eyes ablaze

like desert fires

kissed by death

stalking jihad

struck solemn by

bullet fragmenting bone

shattering skull

revenge revealed

stopped not by boundary nor bombs,

nor fake papers

expired

like him.

Witness

I'll take you broken

bits gone missing

hand over heart

failing to staunch the flow

of artery and vein

plasma drenched rain

corpuscles red

flowing out

alive

barely.

I'll put my hand there on the spot

feel the faint beat

hold you as you pass over

broken

but not alone.
