Rose & Thorn Journal  -  Fall 2009

Terry Zimmer works in software development and enjoys writing poetry, songs, and some short fiction in his free time. A well-spent Saturday morning is sitting outside a favorite coffee shop with a muffin, notebook, pen, and dark brew, pouring words on paper.

Snacktime at Mu Yang Di Children's Village

Beakéd fingers snatch sweetmeat
swallowed whole in hand's fat cheek
Pecked and packed that no spare crumb
lay overlooked and left when done
Filled, the hand flies swift to mouth
     disgorging store from open throat
Still unsated, hungry chirps
forbid a pause on brachial perch.
